Holistic Rehabilitation Center in Tompkins Corners, NY

Nobody plans to become addicted. One day you're handling everything fine, and then suddenly you're not. Maybe it started with prescription pills after surgery, or maybe stress at work led to drinking more than usual. However it happened, here you are. We work with people from Tompkins Corners and across Putnam County who never thought they'd need help with addiction.

As a leading rehab center in New York, we see people from all walks of life - teachers, construction workers, stay-at-home moms, and college students. Addiction doesn't care about your job title or bank account.

What We Do Here

Arms Acres has been helping people get clean since 1982. We have 191 beds on a 54-acre campus in Carmel Hamlet, about 20 minutes from Tompkins Corners. Most people who come here are dealing with more than just drugs or alcohol. Maybe you're depressed and self-medicating.

Maybe you have panic attacks, and benzos seemed like the answer. We treat everything together because splitting up your problems doesn't make sense. Our doctors handle the medical stuff while counselors work on the mental health piece.

How Treatment Works

Detox comes first if you need it. Our nurses and doctors make sure you're safe while your body adjusts. After that, you'll work with a counselor who uses techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - basically learning to spot the thoughts that lead to using and changing them.

Some people need to work through trauma that contributed to their addiction. Others need help figuring out what motivates them to stay sober. We adjust everything based on what you specifically need, not some generic program.

Helping Families Heal

You don't drink just for fun anymore - you drink to cope. Maybe it's work stress, family problems, or mental health issues you've never dealt with. We treat everything that's driving your alcohol use, not just the drinking itself. Our psychiatrists can prescribe medication for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or whatever else is making you miserable. When your mental health stabilizes, staying sober becomes possible instead of torture. Medication Assisted Therapy is available when doctors think it will help your specific situation.

After You Leave

We keep in touch with people who've graduated from our program. Every month, former patients come back for our Alkathon meetings to talk with current patients. You'll hear from a guy who's been sober for five years and still struggles sometimes. You'll meet a woman who relapsed twice before it stuck. These conversations matter because they're honest about what recovery actually looks like - not perfect, but possible.

About Tompkins Corners

Tompkins Corners is one of those places where everyone waves when they drive past each other. It's in Putnam Valley, surrounded by farms and woods, about an hour north of the city. The pace is slower here.

People have lived in the same houses for decades. Kids ride bikes without parents worrying. It's the kind of community that still believes in second chances and helping neighbors when they're down. That attitude makes a difference when you're trying to rebuild your life.

Ready to stop running from this problem? Our intake staff can answer your questions and help you figure out next steps. You don't have to keep living this way.
